Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
1. Overview
Station Light (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a real-time passenger display and transit guide for mobile devices. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Information We Collect
- Location data: With your permission, we access your device’s coarse/fine location to detect nearby stations, show platform guidance and calculate walking directions. Location is used on-device and is not stored permanently on our servers.
- Device identifiers: We generate a random device-scoped identifier so features like group coordination and community alerts can work without requiring a personal account. This identifier is not linked to your name, email or phone number.
- Transit searches and favorites: Your saved routes, stations and preferences are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to your account if you choose to sign in.
- Community posts: If you submit crowd-sourced alerts, only the content you choose to share (text, optional photo, station/tag) is stored. Photos are optional and are scanned for safety before publication.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information solely to operate and improve the app: showing live transit data, triggering station announcements, providing walking guidance, and surfacing crowd-sourced alerts. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses third-party transit data providers (e.g., MOTIS / Transitous) and mapping services to display routes, delays and nearby venues. These services receive only the data needed to answer a query (e.g., station name or coordinates) and are not used to track you.
5. Payments and Tickets
When you choose to buy a ticket or pass through a transport operator’s official shop, you are redirected to that operator’s secure checkout. We do not process, store or have access to your payment card details.
6. Data Security
We apply security measures including encrypted connections, strict access controls, device-scoped identifiers, and content safety checks for community uploads. No system is 100% secure, so we encourage you to keep your device and apps up to date.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR and other applicable laws you may request access to, correction, or deletion of any personal data we hold. To make a request, contact us at the address below. You can also revoke location permission in your device settings at any time.
8. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the app operator through the support channel listed on the Play Store or App Store listing.
